In order to increase transparency on pay gaps within companies, the first pay ratio disclosures will appear in FTSE 350 companies' annual reports from spring 2020. Large firms must now disclose their CEO's pay as a multiple of their median UK employee, as well as the thresholds for the top quarter and bottom quarter of earners across their UK workforce.
The High Pay Centre will publish an analysis of the pay ratios disclosures. This should yield insights into pay within different sectors and the relationship between pay ratios and other company characteristics such as share price changes; profitability, and the number of employees.
